2012 saw not only our involvement in the grease management, but also more specialist equipment being employed in the reinstatement of the canals and waterways around the venues. FM Environmental supplied 2no 5.5 kW Aspiro floating aerators, mounted on pontoons, which were used to help aerate a 4 km stretch of the River Lea and the adjoining canals during the dredging process. The importance of the aspiros aerators was highlighted by maintaing sufficient oxygen in the river and canals to permit the native fish and plant populations to continue to thrive during the desilting process. This was achieved with the added benefit of little surface agitation, therefore nuisance aerasols were prevented from being released.
Manufactured by Australian company, PCPL, the Aspiro has been used widely for simultaneous mixing and from canal aeration to oxidation ditches to lagoons and concentric tanks. FM Environmental have been are the UK & Ireland distributors and installers and can provide specialist advice for projects
