Grease Management

Client: Airport Authorities
Completion Date: 01/07/2012
Contract Value: £250,000
Project Overview: The Grease Guardian has been installed in some of the world’s busiest airports including London Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick, Oslo, Singapore T3, the Azores, Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam Schiphol, Malta, Belfast and Dublin. Airports are prime locations for fast-food and other catering outlets, sometimes open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The result is high levels of grease and food waste being allowed enter the airports drainage system, putting pressure on pumps and treatment plants. Installing passive grease traps can be problematic in terms of location, access for desludging and distance from the source of the problem. FM Environmental offers the complete solution for airports with at source Grease Guardians to help protect pipes and the centralised Titan Class units as a “catch all” solution.
Scope of Work: Sizes vary from smaller D1 units to the larger 10 l/s Titan Class for centralised locations. FM Environmental has also supplied sink strainers and sediment traps along with the Grease Guardians for enhanced solids removal.
