Snowdonia installation commences
Braving the elements of cold, wind, and low cloud cover, the first phase of installation works has been completed by FM Environmental engineers, in conjunction with our civil engineering partners.
These photos taken on a calm December day, demonstrate the ruggedness of the BIOSAM, and its ability to fit into challenging conditions. And at a altitude of 1000 feet above sea level, this definitely counts as a challenge.
The first phase saw the delivery and connection of the precast concrete primary chambers, and the main aeration and final settlement tanks. While the primary tanks required cranage, the aeration and final settlement chambers can be lifted into position by use of a teleporter or JCB with lifting straps – a contractors dream! Thus the installation costs are kept to a minimum.

ISO14001 Accreditation for market leader FM Environmental Ltd
This huge achievement, prepared and coordinated between departments and senior management by David Lamb and Noel Mills, will allow FM Environmental to continue its drive towards process efficiencies to better serve our customers and provide cost efficiencies.
The IMS (Integrated Management System) embraces every aspect of our business but largely falls under the three banners of Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental. We have recently achieved accreditation in all three disciplines (ISO9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001) and operating these systems will be essential not just to ensure compliance with higher customer expectations but to achieve the levels of efficiencies that we aspire to.
Our new computerised IMS system will be completed by David and fully functional by end of January 2014 and will be a one-stop resource for all essential, up-to-date Company data including company procedures, training records, equipment testing certification etc.
It will be a practical and constructive role driven by efficiencies and customer demands. David has been given my full authority to implement and manage the Company’s IMS system and procedures to ensure they work, that they are adhered to and that they bring the desired benefits

FM Environmental bags £750,000 equipment deal with grocery giant Walmart
FM Environmental, based on Greenbank Industrial Estate, specialises in grease removal and water treatment systems.
Now it will supply its Grease Guardian fat removal equipment to Asda parent company Walmart, which will use it in around 200 of its in-store restaurants in Mexico.
FM Environmental, founded 35 years ago, got the help of Invest NI in its global marketing, and also took part in its international visit programme.
It already exports to over 30 markets, including the US, Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, France and Russia, and runs a manufacturing plant in Malta.
Company marketing director Eamon Fitzpatrick said: "Winning this business from such a prestigious customer as Walmart is tremendously encouraging and will be of enormous benefit to us as we seek to grow our business in North America, now a key target market for us.
"It’s a market with huge potential for our Grease Guardian equipment because of the scale of the fast food business, particularly in the US. We are focusing significant resources there to develop opportunities that we have already identified."
He said that focusing on international markets had helped it achieve 20% growth every year over the past few years.
"Invest Northern Ireland’s encouragement and practical support, particularly through the international visit programme, have been immensely important and has enabled us to position the business for further growth in the US, Europe and the Middle East."
Invest NI trade director Dr Vicky Kell said the Mexico deal was "extremely important" for the company, and praised its commitment to growing in external markets.
"The company has developed a structured approach to its international business involving extensive market research to pinpoint opportunities. Its success is also based on fast response to initial leads supported by excellent customer service. This responsive engagement is a key requirement for successful exporting and is something many companies neglect."
FM Environmental also announced it had won the mechanical and electrical subcontract to supply and install three surface water pumping stations at Guernsey airport and its runways.
